The first digital album of Isle of Man stamps on the lunar surface
In a historic milestone for space commerce and regulatory innovation, Eayst Noa Ltd, an Isle of Man company, has successfully demonstrated the world’s first digital franking of Isle of Man Post Office stamps from Lunar Orbit enroute to the Moon, and their transmission back to Earth.
The stamps selected for this landmark trial represent the Isle of Man’s commitment to the future of lunar exploration. The Isle of Man Post Office 2023 Back to the Moon and Triskelion stamp collections were included in the Lonestar ‘Freedom’ Payload that travelled to the Moon; they were franked in space and transmitted back to Earth.
The stamps and the necessary edge-processing software for this test were digitally stored aboard the Freedom Payload, the first data centre on the Moon, launched by Intuitive Machines and SpaceX for Lonestar Data Holdings Inc. (the parent company of Eayst Noa Ltd) from Cape Canaveral on 26th February 2025. The data centre is shown on the front side of this sheet; it’s unique 3D printed shape casts two shadows, the profiles of Astronauts Nicole Stott and Charlie Duke.
The Freedom data centre travelled to the surface of the Moon aboard the lander Athena, landing safely on the Moon on Thursday 6th March 2025. Although Athena toppled on landing, Freedom successfully communicated a message back to Earth, marking a successful mission for Lonestar.
